October Cocktail Roundup: From Sweet Sips to Spooky Spirits
It’s Been a Wickedly Delicious Month at Worthington’s Bar
October has been one for the books — and for the bar! This month, we went on a full-flavoured journey that started with cozy fall dessert cocktails, took a classy detour through Gin & Tonic Week, and ended with a Halloween celebration worthy of a witch’s toast.
From cinnamon swirls and pumpkin pie in a glass to bubbling cauldrons of black margaritas and bright blood red gin fizzes, October’s lineup proved that mixology can be both elegant and a little unhinged. So grab your shaker (and maybe your broomstick), and let’s look back at everything we poured, shook, and sipped this spooky season.
🧁 Fall Flavours First: The Sweet Side of October
The Cinnamon Roll Cocktail
Warm, creamy, and nostalgic — this one was our liquid hug. The Cinnamon Roll Cocktail brought together cinnamon spice, smooth cream liqueur, and a swirl of sweetness that made it taste like dessert and after-dinner drink all in one.
Perfect for chilly evenings, it quickly became a fan-favourite and a staff pick for “best way to pretend you’re not drinking before 5 PM.”
Pumpkin Pie Martini
Because October just isn’t October without pumpkin spice. Our Pumpkin Pie Martini was all about cozy vibes — velvety pumpkin purée, autumnal spices, and a touch of cream, finished with a rim of crushed biscuits for that real pie effect.
It’s rich, indulgent, and guaranteed to make you the favourite guest at any fall gathering.
Gin & Tonic Week: Seven Days, Seven G&Ts
If you thought gin and tonic was just gin, tonic, and lime — think again. This year’s Gin & Tonic Week was a seven-day celebration of the world’s most versatile cocktail.
Each day, we featured a unique pairing, from crisp and citrusy classics to floral, berry-infused, and herbal twists. Whether you like your G&T light and zesty or deep and complex, this week was all about proving there’s a perfect tonic for everyone.
Catch all the pairings and recipes in our feature: Seven Days, Seven G&Ts — Welcome to Gin & Tonic Week.
💎 Want to Master the G&T?
If Gin & Tonic Week left you craving more, we’ve got you covered. Our Ultimate Gin & Tonic Guide breaks down everything you need to know about crafting the perfect serve — from the best gins and tonics to dream garnishes and secret bartender tricks.
We’re talking citrus-forward classics, Dutch dry gems (we might be biased), floral rebels, and navy-strength beasts that could wake the dead. Whether you’re a gin newbie or a tonic connoisseur, this guide will make sure every G&T you pour is worthy of a toast.
So before your next round, do yourself a favour and give it a read — your taste buds (and your guests) will thank you.
🎃 Halloween Cocktails: Boo-ze, Glamour & Glitter
This is where things got… spirited. October’s final act was all about embracing the dark side of the bar — glowing potions, creepy garnishes, and cocktails that looked like they came straight out of a haunted lab.
Below are the standout stars from our Halloween Cocktail Collection 👇
🖤 The Black Margarita
If the classic margarita had a goth cousin, the Black Margarita would be it.
Made with our standard margarita base — tequila, orange liqueur, lime juice, and simple syrup — we added a pinch of activated charcoal to transform it into an inky masterpiece. It’s the same tangy, refreshing balance you love, just moodier and infinitely more Instagram-ready.
We didn’t have black salt on hand, so we mixed some charcoal into regular salt for a DIY rim that worked like magic. Sometimes spooky hacks are the best hacks.

🕯️ Jack-O’-Lantern Cocktail
The Jack-O’-Lantern is as bright and cheerful as its name suggests — a fizzy, citrusy drink that looks like a glowing pumpkin in your glass.
Made with 45 ml cognac, 15 ml brandy-based orange liqueur, 30 ml orange juice, and a splash of ginger ale, it’s rich, tangy, and perfectly balanced with a hint of sparkle from edible glitter.
The garnish steals the show: an orange wheel laid flat across the glass, topped with a lime twist to mimic a pumpkin stem. It’s playful, clever, and very much Halloween-approved.

💉 Bloody Gin Fizz
She’s classy, she’s creepy, and she’s got a syringe full of “blood.”
The Bloody Gin Fizz is our kind of Halloween drama — bright, bubbly, and just the right amount of unsettling.
Made with Tanqueray Gin, fresh lemon juice, grenadine, and a splash of soda, it’s both tart and effervescent. The twist? The grenadine is served in a syringe, ready for guests to inject into the fizz themselves.
Watching the red syrup swirl into the clear gin fizz is pure theatre — equal parts eerie and fabulous.
💡 Pro tip: Hand your guests the syringe and watch their faces as they “bleed” their own drink.

👁️ Eye See You
The cocktail that stares back.
This one combined gin and lychee liqueur (plus a touch of green food colouring for that ghoulish glow). But the real magic is in the garnish — “eyeballs” made from canned lychees stuffed with blueberries. They float in the drink, turning it into something straight out of a haunted punchbowl.
A little creepy, a lot of fun, and surprisingly delicious — because at Worthington’s Bar, even our monsters have taste.

🩸 Bloody Mary
You can’t do Halloween without one.
Our Bloody Mary was loaded with flavour: Vodka, Sherry, tomato juice, lemon juice, and a kick of Tabasco and Worcestershire. Celery salt and black pepper rounded it off, giving that perfect balance of savoury, spicy, and sharp.
It’s the brunch-turned-after-dark classic that never disappoints — especially when served with a dramatic garnish.

Halloween Shots: Small Glasses, Big Drama
Of course, we didn’t stop at cocktails — our Halloween shot menu was the real party starter. Creepy, creative, and full of surprise layers, these little drinks packed more personality than most full-sized cocktails.
Here’s the wickedly good lineup:
🧠 Brain Hemorrhage Shot
A shot that’s equal parts science experiment and bar magic.
Made with 30 ml Peach Liqueur, 15 ml Irish Cream, and a few drops of Grenadine, it curdles in the glass to create that infamous “brain” effect.
Sweet, creamy, and a bit gross — but in the best possible way. It’s the Halloween crowd-pleaser that looks horrifying and tastes heavenly.

🧫 The Boo-zy Lab Kit
This one wasn’t just a drink — it was an experience.
Bright, colourful shots served in Erlenmeyer flasks and test tubes, each glowing under the bar lights like a mad scientist’s experiment gone deliciously right. The Boo-zy Lab Kit lets everyone mix and match flavours, from fruity and tart to creamy and sweet.
It’s interactive, chaotic, and a total Instagram magnet. Check out our full Halloween Shot Guide: The Boo-zy Lab Kit here.
🍏 Poisoned Apple Shot
A dangerously good combo of crisp apple liqueur and deep red cranberry juice that looks as enchanting as it tastes.
It’s tart, sweet, and wickedly drinkable — the kind of shot that makes you think, maybe one more can’t hurt…

🌹 Black Rose Shot
Romantic, gothic, and darkly beautiful.
We mixed Tequila Rose Cream Liqueur with black vodka (made by mixing vodka and a pinch of activated charcoal powder).
The result? A stunning, jet-black rose in a glass — smooth, creamy, and hauntingly good.

✨ Fairy Shotmother
A magical, colour-changing shot that feels like it came straight from a cauldron.
Made with indigo gin, lemon juice, simple syrup, and edible glitter, this one literally transforms in front of your eyes. Add the lemon juice and watch the purple hue shift and shimmer.
Perfect for your sparkliest Halloween party moment.

🦠 Snot Shot
Yes, it sounds gross. Yes, you’ll love it.
Layered coffee liqueur and absinthe, then lit on fire before serving. The effect is eerie, messy, and pure showmanship — ideal for anyone who wants to impress and slightly alarm their friends.

👻 Casper the Ghost Shot
White, creamy, and unexpectedly classy. Made with white chocolate liqueur and Disaronno Velvet, it’s smooth, sweet, and comforting — the friendly ghost of Halloween shots.

🎃 Jack-O’-Lantern Shot
Mini but mighty. This shot takes the flavours of the Jack-O’-Lantern cocktail and condenses them into a quick, punchy sip. Perfect for matching your main drink or handing out to guests as a Halloween toast.
Add a little orange foodcolor into the shaker before you mix and voila, you get a bright orange shot. Garnish with a hanging lime twist and your shot will look like a real pumpkin!
