After having our first taste of Guinness, we just had to try an Irish coffee. And not just any kind of Irish coffee, but award-winning Irish coffee!
Limerick City boasts several notable landmarks, and among them, King John’s Castle stands out. We had an absolute blast immersing ourselves in the grandeur of this magnificent castle. From its captivating history to its breathtaking view from the tower. Our visit in October was made even more enchanting by the charming addition of pumpkins adorning the courtyard, creating an atmosphere that truly embodied the spirit of Pumpkin Season.
After our visit to the castle, we wanted to get a warm drink. When in Ireland, you must have an Irish Coffee ☘️! Since this is one of our favorite warm alcoholic drinks, we didn’t want to drink just any Irish Coffee. Katie Dalys Heritage Pub & Kitchen is situated in the Medieval Quarter of Limerick City, just across the entrance of King John’s Castle.
A Warm and Welcoming Atmosphere
When we walked past this cozy pub, we saw a sign that said: ‘Award Winning Irish Coffee’. So, we just had to stop and have a taste ourselves. We did a little research of this pub and apparently, Katie Daly’s is a must-visit destination for locals and visitors alike.
As we stepped into Katie Daly’s Heritage Pub & Kitchen, a cozy and inviting ambiance enveloped us. This made us instantly feel at home. The friendly staff warmly welcomed us, while the rustic interior with wooden accents, vintage memorabilia, and a fireplace provided a warm and cozy atmosphere.
Crafted Beverages and Irish Whiskeys
No Irish pub experience would be complete without a selection of carefully crafted beverages. At Katie Daly’s, you’ll find a wide variety of local and international beers, ciders, and spirits to quench your thirst. At the time of our visit, they had the following drinks on tap:

- Orchard Thieves (In the Netherlands it’s called ‘Apple Bandit’)

Obviously, we ordered Irish coffee for the table. Since we had been enjoying some of Limerick’s history and culture all morning, we decided to have a little snack as well. We had the chocolate cheesecakes, which looked & tasted great!
